Apple App Store hits 2 billion downloads

Apple announced Monday that over 2 billion apps have been downloaded from its App Store since the e-commerce shop’s launch in July 2008. The company also said that there are now more than 85,000 apps available.

More numbers: There are currently 50 million iPhone and iPod Touch customers, as well as over 125,000 developers in Apple’s iPhone Developer Program. All that has combined to make the company’s App Store the world’s largest applications store, Apple claims.

“The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. “The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it.”

TomTom car kit for iPhone will cost $120

To be honest, I was wondering when will they announce the price tag for the much-anticiated TomTom car kit for iPhone. The kit, which will be sold separately from the navigational iPhone app, will become available in October (just a few day away). While we still don’t have full details on what the whole package will include, it’s officially going to run you $119.95 (or 99.99 if you pay in Euros).

Verizon has announced its own version of HTC’s latest WinMo Standard handset. The so-called Ozone features WiFi, global roaming capability, VZ Navigator and visual voicemail support, a QWERTY keyboard, and a beefy 1500mAh battery that we’re betting will keep this thing going all day and then some.

But wait a minute. The best part might be the price : only 49.99$ on contract after rebate when it launches online on June 29 and in stores on July 13.

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA available for pre-order

Looks like Asus’ newest little netbook, the Eee PC Seashell 1005HA it’s popping up for pre-order right now. The 1005HA is almost identical to the aready available 1008HA, but with a longer-lived, swappable six-cell battery and without those little port doors we found to be somewhat troublesome in our review of the unit.
