If you ride the L train between Brooklyn an Manhattan, you might have a little suprise. As of today, the L will become the NY’s first subway line to be fully controlled by Communication Based Train Control, or CBTC, which were initially used overnights and during non-peak hours.
This computers will allow the trains to effectively run themselves, closer and faster than their meatbag conductors could. Hmm, that means more trains more often! But those fleshy workers have something their robotic replacements don’t : contracts. Because of that there will still be humans watching the controls and, we’d imagine, napping occasionally.

LOL @ the map. I do take the L train and would be really interested to see how well they will function when being fully controlled by CBTC.
welcome to the future.
“there will still be humans watching the controls and, we’d imagine, napping occasionally.” Time to teach the robots some human habits…napping.
There are lot of sensors that are employed today as artificial intelligence finds its use in greater extent..
We just now finished a project on life detection using robots using the same sensing technologies feeding inputs like gps, weather as well as camera pictures..Hope this will be a big one in future..
