Even if Steve Ballmer himself declared that Windows Mobile 7 will be available for sale next year, a less reliable source suggests that the desktop version of Win7 will be hitting the market this fall. Ray Chen, president of Taipei-based Compal Electronics said that “according to current planning,” Windows 7 should be on its machines by “late September or early October.”
For those who don’t know, Compal is the company responsible for crafting HP and Acer laptops and to be honest, I am not sure how this bigwig secured these dates. Of course, everyone else in the industry is either clueless or prefer to keep their mouth.
